The AKRON Stadium has witnessed all kinds of events of international magnitude. In 2011 it was the most modern of the seven stadiums where the U-17 FIFA World Cup was held. In the same year, it was the venue for the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies of the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games, and also witnessed the national Mexican team win the Gold Medal in soccer after beating Argentina. The home of the rojiblancos is now preparing to star in the most important sporting event to which it will open its doors: The Canada, United States and Mexico 2026 FIFA World Cup.
